Army Fisher House
Army Fisher Houses offer a home away from home at no cost for families of patients receiving medical care at a military treatment facility. Each Army Fisher House offers comfortable accommodations that allow military & veteran families from all branches of service to focus on the medical care and recovery of their loved one. The houses have well stocked community kitchens and inviting common areas. Guests are warmly welcomed by caring and compassionate staff members who offer encouragement and provide families with information about resources and services available to help meet their needs. Army Fisher Houses provide a warm, caring, compassionate environment where families and caring friends can nurture one another.
The Army Fisher Houses are operated under the U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) at Fort Sam Houston, TX. The Army Fisher Houses are constructed and donated by the Fisher House Foundation, Inc. a national non-profit organization established to assist with the coordination of private support and encourage public support for the construction of Fisher Houses.
Referrals may be prepared by case managers, casualty office, chaplains, medical provider, social workers, and/or unit representatives. For more information on eligibility requirements and the referral process, please contact the appropriate Army Fisher House location directly.
Army Fisher House Managers and their volunteers work together to support the families to be able to devote all their time and energy to their loved one's medical condition and progress. This sharing of compassion, caring, and concern is what makes the Army Fisher House experience so beneficial to our military members and their families during these difficult times.
