Complete Medical Record in ER/Urgent Care Setting (2004)

Moncrief Army Community Hospital, Fort Jackson, is the site of the first use of a complete electronic medical record in an emergency room/urgent care setting. The Moncrief Urgent Care Clinic implemented the AHLTA system in late 2004 and has been reaping its benefits ever since. AHLTA is a powerful tool that provides rapid around the clock access to all health care information on a beneficiary. Conversely, the system is a single point of entry and collection of various elements of health care documentation of a patient visit. In one system, provider documentation, laboratory results and radiology records are compiled on a patient. Since AHLTA is found throughout the AMEDD, the Urgent Care Clinic provider can access all pertinent treatment information on a patient, regardless of where previous care was received, leading to more informed and timely treatment decisions.
