Comprehensive Behavioral Health System of Care (2010)

In 2010, the CBHSOC was established to standardize, synchronize, and coordinate behavioral healthcare across the Army and throughout the Army Force Generation cycle.  The intent optimizes care and limited behavioral health resources for Soldiers and Families.

  • Near-term goals of the CBHSOC are implementation of routine behavioral health screening points across ARFORGEN and standardization of screening instruments.
  • Goals also include increased coordination with Veterans Affairs, local and state agencies, and the Defense Centers of Excellence and the National Intrepid Center of Excellence.
  • Long-term goals of the CBHSOC are:
    • the development of a common behavioral health data system
    • development and implementation of surveillance and data tracking capabilities to coordinate behavioral health clinical efforts
    • synchronization of Tele-behavioral health activities
    • complete integration of the Reserve Components
    • other efforts including traumatic brain injury, patient centered medical home, and pain management
