Pharmacy Data Standardization (PDS) Project

The PDS project will standardize the Composite Health Care System (CHCS) drug file at all CHCS sites across the Military Health System (MHS). It will provide the Pharmacy Operations Support Contract (POSC) with a means of creating, maintaining, and exporting the Master Drug file and it will limit the editing of specified drug file fields by staff at individual CHCS sites, paving the way to align with MHS GENESIS EHR files.

In September 2017, MTF sites participated in the PDS Local User Overview.

The Pharmacy Data Standardization is here. The site acceptance test (SAT) has successfully concluded. The SAT site provided great feedback and lessons learned, which have been shared in this presentation PDS Training Lessons Learned Presentation 1_29_2018

PDS Questions?

The POSC will respond within 3-5 business days. For urgent issues, please call 1-877-275-4732 option 1.

Pharmacy Webcast

The Pharmacy Webcasts are held quarterly to communicate with military pharmacies about:

  • Pharmacy & Therapeutic (P&T) Committee activities and plans for future meetings
  • VA/DoD national contracts
  • Formulary implementation
  • Tools/programs available - Medication Analysis and Reporting Tools, Deployment Prescription Program, Prescription Restriction Program, etc.

Future webcasts will also be conducted to provide deployment information and tool/program updates. We welcome the input from the pharmacy community to provide worthwhile information you can use in your practice settings.

Please note that files more than two years old may not be compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. If you need an accessible version of a particular file, please contact us and we will provide one for you.

Antibiotic Allergy De-Labeling Improves Healthcare and Saves Money

Antibiotics are one of the most frequently prescribed medications in the world today. And among all antibiotics, penicillin and related beta-lactam antibiotics have proven to be the safest and most effective. Unfortunately, many U.S. patients are incorrectly labeled as having a penicillin allergy, which limits their access to essential medications and makes them vulnerable to complications associated with broad-spectrum antibiotic treatments.
