Antimicrobial Stewardship: Combating Resistance with Data – ECRI Institute

The misuse or overuse of antimicrobials is a global public health concern, contributing to antibiotic resistance and increased patient morbidity and mortality. In response, the Military Health System (MHS) has expanded its efforts to address antibiotic resistance and improve stewardship of both new and existing antibiotics.

During this webinar, staff at military treatment facilities (MTFs) and clinics will learn about two web-based reporting tools, developed by MHS, that can be used to track antibiotic prescribing and resistance. Speakers will describe how to obtain antibiotic surveillance information from the military's EpiData Center and the Pharmacovigilance Center to assist with monitoring and further developing your facility's antimicrobial stewardship program.

Speakers:

  • Michelle LaCour, MPH, epidemiologist, Pharmacovigilance Center, Office of Surgeon General, U.S. Army
  • Jessica Spencer, MPH, principal research scientist, Battelle Memorial Institute, supporting EpiData Center, Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center
