Using a mix of instructive briefings and hands on exercises, WISDOM strives to provide these analysts and decision-makers with tools they need to support data-driven analysis and decision-making—keys to successful organizational performance. In general, WISDOM is the educational vehicle that can translate the widespread availability of corporate data through the MHS Management Analysis and Reporting Tool (M2) into improved MHS operations.

HIPAA and Privacy Act Training

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Privacy Act training is required of all Defense Health Agency (DHA) civilian, military, and contractor personnel. The mandatory HIPAA and Privacy Act training course must be completed within 30 days of on-boarding and annually, thereafter. The course is accessible via Joint Knowledge Online (JKO).

Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Program

Offered by the Pharmacy Division, the purpose of the Managed Care Pharmacy Residency (PGY1) Program is to develop pharmacists who are valued members of the health care team, so they can provide clinical and cost effectiveness evaluations to support the DoD Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee. The resident will be able to provide pharmacoeconomic analysis, complete outcomes research and other DoD clinical initiatives and help to achieve optimal drug therapy outcomes through the application of their knowledge.

Root Cause Analysis

This self-paced elearning module is available to MHS military treatment facility staff and outlines the DoD Patient Safety Program’s suggested practices for conducting a root cause analysis, or RCA. The course follows the RCA process from the initial reporting of a patient safety event through the formation of the RCA Team, identification of contributing factors and root causes, and the recommendation of corrective actions. Designed for a general audience, “Root Cause Analysis” provides all levels of staff in MTFs with the information they need to actively participate in an RCA Team.
