Thank you for the opportunity to share some of my memories with my children during my 25 years in the Air Force. Being a military dad allows me to blend my work and home lifestyles, sharing the experiences and multiplying the blessings. Being a military dad means experiencing life events with our family that create unique and personable memories. Being a military dad means possibly passing on a higher calling to our children to also serve. The Airman is our son, Joel. He served his six-year commitment honorably working C-17s, and recently transitioned to civilian life as a heavy equipment repair technician.

My father-in-law, Clayton Wittman, a retired Air Force Col., was a C130 pilot when he was active duty. Since he retired, he’s taken on the even more important role of PawPaw to our kids Chloe, Rylee, and Cameron.
Being a military dad is hard. You work long hours and miss out on so many milestones. My husband, Christopher Wittman, deployed when our first daughter was just 3 months old. Although it is hard to miss out on so many wonderful moments, we know his dedication to the military will set him and his family up for success in the future and for that we are eternally grateful

My father was a @Navy pilot and academy graduate. My great uncles were fighter pilots during the Vietnam era. My great grandfather was at Pearl Harbor during WWII. Being a military dad means passing this legacy down to my children and setting an example for them to carry into whatever they choose to do, in service or not.

My son will never know how much he helped me through some really rough times. When I was tired, in pain, and needed a reason to take the next step. I could never let my son think that his father could ever not honor his oath. Night Stalkers Don’t Quit.

I find purpose in dedicated service to God, family, and country. It is through this commitment that I lead by example, imparting upon my children the importance of service to others. P.S. But it sure is difficult to keep my whites clean as a father.

I am the proud mother of a Solider, Sgt. 1st Class Steven J. Rizo. I never knew a real hero until my son became not only a Solider but a father in the Army! This has got to be one of the hardest jobs for a father. The time away, the missed birthdays, the missed holidays, all the while being the strongest man his children adore.

My dad, Charles Rickgauer, was a Navy officer. He joined in 1963 and retired in 1983. He enlisted as a seaman recruit and received his commission through the Navy Extremely High Frequency Satellite Communications Program at the University of Texas. He was selected for submarine service. He had a profound impact on my brother, Kelly Rickgauer, and myself, as you can tell from my commissioning photo.

This is my military dad, Marvin. He was in Vietnam from October 1969 to November 1970 when he was shot and injured by enemy fire. He became a below-the-knee amputee and had shrapnel in his back that could not be removed. He was taken from us too early, in August 2020, due to his exposure to Agent Orange. He died from multiple myeloma 50 years after he came home from the war. He will never stop being my hero! He was the best father and proudest military and American man around!
